National Homeopathic Research Institute in Mental Health inaugurated

        KOTTAYAM.MAY.26: The Minister of State for AYUSH, Hon’ble Shri Shripad Yesso Naik inaugurated the of the National Homeopathic Research Institute in Mental Health by lighting the traditional lamp Smt.K.K.Shailaja Teacher, Minister of Health, Kerala was the Chief guest and Shri Kodikunnil Suresh, MP Mavelikkara constituency presided over the function.
        Inaugurating the event Hon’ble Minister said “Result oriented research was needed for Institution like NHRIMH to emerge as a leading players in the field not just in India but at the international level. “Research is the key focus of this national Institute which is essential to integrate it into the National mainstream Institute for Mental Health.”
        Shri.C.F.Thomas, MLA from Changanassery, Dr. M.K.C.Nair, Vice Chancellor, Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur, Shri.P.N.Ranjit Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Dr. R. K. Manchanda, Director General, CCRH and Dr.K.R.Janardanan Nair, officer incharge NHRIMH and other dignitaries graced the occasion.
        The Govt. of Kerala has allotted 7.58 acres of land to the CRI (H), Kottayam for the development of NHRIMH. Apart from this, 1.78 acres of land has been provided by the State Govt. to this Institute earlier wherein the existing Hospital building is constructed. When the NHRIMH is developed it needs an academic block, research block, documentation & archive section, hostels, residential accommodation etc. As on now a total of land available is 9.37 acres with a constructed area of 7527 sq. Ft.
        The AYUSH Ministry has granted approval to start PG and Ph.D programmes in Homoeopathy and paramedical courses at this Institute. MD programmes in two streams (Psychiatry and Practice of Medicine) has been sanctioned and 10 seats each being allotted by the Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur. Efforts are on to commence the courses during this academic year itself. In order to meet the requirement, new academic block, hostels, expansion of hospital, clinical laboratories are proposed. More teaching and non- teaching staff are also expected to join here.Once fully developed, this shall be a centre of excellence in Mental Health through Homoeopathy.
