Homoeopathy hits headlines again

Dear Readers,

A report in the reputed medical journal The Lancet has stirred the world, saying Homoeopathy has an effect only in the mind and has no real curative powers. But, researchers say that this study is flawed and biased in reporting.

Homoeopathy is described as an alternative or complementary medicine and is judged in conventional medical paradigm. But, Homoeopathy is a holistic medical system, which recommends a single, similar remedy to the patient. In this controversial study, which was not conducted by a experienced licensed homoeopathic practitioner the patients were not individualized. The essentially “Materialistic” concept of conventional medicine is applied, where as homoeopathy involves holistic concept of human being. So, the study is not an appropriate scale to judge homoeopathic efficacy.

“Homoeopathy has been facing these types of attacks for 200 years. But it gains from strength to strength because people patronize it; and many studies prove it works.” Even though there are many other studies, both clinical and non-clinical, that demonstrate homoeopathy's efficacy, more clinical evidence is needed.

Today the Researchers and Medical Scientists are very active in proving the effect of “Ultra High Dilutions', which will explain in future the homoeopathic modus operandi to the scientific world. The days ahead will reveal the truth of homoeopathy to Dr. Matthias Egger and his team, just like it was revealed to Dr. Constantine Hering, who was send to scrutinize and publish against Homoeopathy by Dr.Robbie, an antagonist of Homoeopathy. But eventually Hering, converted to homoeopathy and became the foundation for its phenomenal growth in the USA.

The real danger for patients who believe in homoeopathy is that such antagonism may turn them away from modern medicine when they need it at times. Conventional medicine and homoeopathy need to work together, each suspending any negative attitudes towards the others to render service to the mankind.
