Dr.P.Mukundan is a leading Homoeopath, from the steel city Salem in Tamil Nadu. He served as Assistant Medical officer and tutor under the Tamil Nadu Government service He quitted the Job and continued his career in private practice. He had presented many papers in various seminars with evidence-based documents and his write-ups are also popular, which had appeared in various dailies. Here he presents a case of Alopecia areata. A twenty years old male student consulted me for patchy hair loss on the scalp. Intially he had as a small patch and later it extended more in size. He also had dandruff with itching. He had additional complaints of frequent attacks of left sided headache. The headache was worse when going in sunlight and while reading. Past History: No relevant history of illness in the past. Physical Generals: He had constipation and has to strain to pass motion associated with pain. Mental Generals: He was irritable, hurried in nature, with aversion to company. He was sad for his complaints. His whole history was analyzed by considering the physical and mental symptoms and the following course of treatment was given. First Prescription 19.3.1998 ![]() Rx Nat.Mur 200 OD for 3 days followed by Sac.Lac for 15 days. Follow Up-1 4.4.1998 Itching of the scalp better Had headache only once Rx Nat.Mur 200 OD for 3 days followed by Sac.Lac for 15 days. Follow Up – 2 30.4.1998 No headache Dandruff better Thin hair started appearing in the bald spot. Rx Sac.Lac for 15 days. Follow Up – 3 18.5.1998 ![]() Hair falling better Hair growth improved in bald spot. He had headache once after taking rich food. Rx Nat.Mur 200 OD for 3 days followed by SL for 15 days. Follow Up – 4 10.6.1998 Thickening of hair in the bald spot improved Hair fall and dandruff better No headache. Rx SL for one month. Follow Up – 5 15.7.1998 Thick growth of hair over the bald area.
