A word to House surgeons...

Dear internee,

Just as the future of a country lies in the hands of the youth of that country, the future of Homoeopathy lies in the hands of students and internees of Homoeopathy.

You have now become an internee after crossing many hurdles. Now you may have dreams of becoming either a very successful practitioner, or a medical officer in Government Hospital, or a professor in a Homoeopathic Medical College, or a research scholar in a medical institute. The realization of these dreams depends upon how strongly you are motivated to achieve these goals.

Whatever you have learned in the college is only the foundation for the house of homoeopathy. Further elevation depends upon your hard work in learning the applied aspect of homoeopathic practice during your internship and the few initial years of your practice.

There is an incubation period for all profession and Homoeopathy is not an exception. Immediately after starting your practice, you may not become a roaring practitioner. This period of lacuna may be one year or two year or sometimes it may be as long as five to ten years. But with patience, if you pay your full attention to the those sporadic cases that come to you, if you take more time to understand the patient, to get anamnesis, to analyze the case, to educate the patient in understanding what Homoeopathy is, and prescribe the best possible similimum to that patient, then that patient will be the unpaid (but he will be paying you) advertisement agent for you.

Utilize the internship period and the free time during your initial practice to read as many books as possible on Homoeopathic, Non-Homoeopathic Medical books, books of other allied sciences and books on motivation and management. Interact with your colleagues; participate in various clinical meetings, CME programs, seminars, conferences, etc. Organize small group discussions with your colleagues and discuss about failures, successes, and all the difficulties what you encounter in your practice. If you get a chance, you may also attend senior Homoeopaths Clinics and observe the way he handles the case.

Wishing you great success in your Homoeopathic practice, social and family life,

With regards
Dr. S. Mohamed Aleem
