Homoeo times had an opportunity to visit
our “Father of Homeopathy's birth place the cathedral city, on the
valleys of river Elbe, Meission in Germany. The dream was materialized
when Liga Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis (LMHI) hosted a world
medical congress at Berlin, the capital of Germany, 193 km away from the
birthplace.
The organizers arranged a special trip
to Meission in a double Decker Air bus. The four lane roads are very smooth
and every body enjoyed with great excitement. After two hours later the
valleys of river Elbe caught our eyes, crossing the bridge we reached
the St Nicholus Church. The mayor of the town welcomed us with smile and
a delicious breakfast was also arranged. We looked around the ground life
size Bronze bust was seen in the garden. The guide told” The Meission
Homoeopathic Society and The German Homoeopathic federation celebrated
Dr Hahnemann's 200th birth day in 1955 here, after two years the memorial
was erected"

Then we walked on the streets of Meission,
very big church, few monuments of Dr.Hahnemann were treat to our eyes.
Finally we reached the school where Dr.Hahnemann studied “Prince's
Grammar school of St.Afra”
This school was formerly a Francscan Monastery, then known as Municipal
Grammar school of St. Afra. Later Saxony in 1876 funded to demolish and
reconstruct” the guide told. . Every body eagerly glazed at the
school, where Dr Hahnemann's first writing "The wonderful construction
of Human Hand"
After few minutes walk, we reached the
birthplace of Dr.Hahnemann with Joy and anguish. Earlier this area was
known as “Uher demFleischsteg (Meat Bridge) which is renamed as
“Hahnemann Platz “ in 1855. The central society celebrated
the 100th birth anniversary in a grand manner. Doctors, Citizens of Meission,
Councilors attended the formal gathering on April 11th here. This bust
and memorial plaque was mounted on the house…you see!” We
saw the bust and the plaque with writings.
We entered the house with great respect
and paid our tributes and later we visited the places were Dr.Hahnemann
lived. A lively exhibition was also displaced in the hall. Then the organizers
offered a buffet lunch in a Hotel. A special wine at meissen called “Hahnemanian
Wine” was served to the participants. Dr.Hahnemann advocated this
special wine for pulmonary consumption at that time.
We left the city proceeding to the “Birth
place of Homoeopathy - Torgauv “ thinking it is a timely respect
to our founder during the celebration of 250th birthday!
