No police Harassment on IM&H Doctors

 

      CHENNAI, JUNE 16: Tamil Nadu police launched a State-wide crackdown on those practicing allopathic medicines without a formal degree following up on a High Court order, which instructed the Indian Medical Association to furnish the names of persons practicing allopathic medicine. The association had provided a list of 2,000 such persons throughout Tamil Nadu     

About 22 persons were arrested across the State. The police report stated that there are two kinds of bogus doctors those having no degree and those holding some degree or certificate in Siddha or homeopathy and some bodies complained on police harassment on genuine practitioners and Qualified physicians Thiru V.K. Subburaj, principal secretary, Health and FW had written to Director General of Police not to intervene with the practice of Registered practitioners of Siddha, Ayurveda, Unani, Naturopathy and Homoeopathy. He stated earlier that all registered practitioners are mandated to display their registration information prominently in their clinics or hospitals.

IMA has reiterated the demand for an Anti-quackery Act.
