   “Homoeopathy can cure Vitiligo and Leucoderma ! “A special message to the public was conveyed in a public awareness program organized by the AKP Homoeopathic Clinical Center in association with Lion's Club Vadapalani hosted at Chennai Music Academy Mini Hall on 6th May 2007.

   The Special Commissioner to Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy G.A.Rajkumar presided over and inaugurated the awareness program. Dr.S.P.Singh, Advisor, AYUSH, Government of India was the Chief Guest on the occasion. DR.P.V.Venkatraraman, Dr.Jayesh V. Sangvi, the Members, Central Council for Clinical Research in Homoeopathy, Government of India, and Dr.Mohamed Aleem also participated at this occasion.

   While speaking on the occasion, the special Commissioner G.A.Rajkumar said, Homoeopathy has earned a reputed name in treating the acute disease like Chickungunya and Japanese Encephalitis. Homoeopathy is also good for all skin diseases like Vitiligo, psoriasis and allergy. It has no side effects and establish permanent cure “.

   The Central Ministry advisor Dr.S.P.Singh said,” The Ministry encourages the Indian systems and homoeopathy. The Non-governmental organizations should come forward and conduct awareness programs and also the extra mural research program”

   Homoeotimes honoured Dr.Senthil Kumar of Vinayaka Mission's Homoeopathy Medical College, Salem the recipient of Gold Medal from Dr.M.G.R.Medical University for the year 2005 with a citation of a special award. Dr.S.P.Singh gave away the medal with an appreciation certificate.

   The awareness session started in time. Dr.R.Gnanasambandam, Director, AKP Homoeopathic Clinical Research Center presented his audiovisual speech on vitiligo. He illustrated the disease mechanism with plenty of slides. Cured cases on different aetiology also displayed on the screen.

   Dr.Mahendra Kabra who has wide clinical experience in handling the vitiligo cases presented his speech with power point presentation. His excellent presentation on variety of cured cases with photographs surprised the audience. The evidence based photographs crowned homoeopathy.

   “Vitiligo or Leucoderma is a very common disorder now a days. Many think that it is contagious, but certainly not! Unlike other systems of medicine, which believe in external applications, sun exposure and ultra violet rays, Homoeopathy believes only in internal medication. Many patients had been benefited by Homoeopathy. Homoeopathy medicines works at the both cellular and dynamic level” was the message conveyed to the public by the speakers.

   Dr.Mahendra Kabra insisted on diet for the Vitiligo patients. He advised to avoid all non-Vegetarian food including milk and dairy products and reduce sour foods. Both the eminent physicians suggested “ Organic Food “ which are rich in colloidal minerals. They raised doubt over the chemical fertilizers, which could retard the assimilation of minerals like copper, aluminium, zinc and selenium, as they would affect the melanosynthesis. They also insisted to avoid artificial foods and tinned foods stating that they had seen few patients.

   Many vitiligo-affected victims participated the open forum and a better interaction was on the disease along with other skin ailments like psoriasis, eczema and also thyroid disorders. Dr.P.Mukundan, who had earned exclusive name for the treatment of psoriasis and warts also participated in this special session.

   The program started sharply as scheduled and ended on time. The response was very good with 420 participants, of which 360 were affected victims. Few volunteers approached the organizers to contribute donations and requested to conduct similar programs. Dr.M.Saraswathy welcomed the gathering and Dr.J.Anuradha proposed vote of thanks. Dr.Monolisa performed the master of ceremony.

   Mr. Muruganantham and Varadharajan the key organizers of this program said” We had received overwhelming response from the public for these type of programs. This is the third program with great success. First we conducted awareness program at Erode, the second program at Chennai Kalaivanar Arrangam. We focus on special diseases now! “
