Dr K Srinivasan - Salem

In March 1998, a 40 years old male, with swelling in the dorsum of left foot, since three days, came for treatment. Patient was a known diabetic, on oral hypoglycaemic agents.

On examination, Patient looked toxic, the temperature was 104F, Left inguinal lymphnodes enlarged and tender; Tenderness and warmth over the foot swelling. Random blood sugar 350mg/dl.

I incised the skin and about 300 ml pus drained. Wound cleaned and dressed with gauze soaked in calendula Q every day. Every time insignificant quantity of pus drained.

On following days, fever drastically reduced. Inguinal lymph nodes became less prominent and tenderness reduced. The ulcer also healed .The skin around the incision started peeling off and looked “angry”. The skin became normal after the diluted application of Calendula mother tincture.
