Homoeopathic remedies act wonderfully in epidemic or ailed conditions provided auxiliary steps are taken. The genus epidemicus, of homoeopathy hints towards “situation similimum”

Dr.Samuel Hahnemann was the first serious medical researcher who propounded the theory of “Genus Epidemicus”. He also pointed out its nature as contagious. Modern terms like bacteria, virus, Fungi, Protozoa etc, find the identity in Samuel Hahnemann’s work. The $ 73, 100 and 102 contains the reference. Hahnemann termed them as excessively minute invisible living creatures. From Homoeopathic point of view, if we observe the phenomena of infection, we are concerned only with a general introduction of microbes as referred by Hahnemann. Our attention is mainly concentrated on the host’s capacity to fight or adjust to the microbial attacks. Taxonomical, morphological or pathological analysis supports the homoeopathic view but the main target in such cases is individual or a community which one to be treated on the basis of symptom totality and immunity. The search for genes epidemicus depends on the totality symptoms of all the affected cases in a particular area.

The totality of symptom may hint towards a “situation similimum” or a near similimum. For epidemiological purposes it should be kept in mint that, if the infectious disease continues for a longtime the selected genus epidemicus may change as the genetic structure of the microbe may alternate or reconstruct it. For such situation a careful watch on genus epidemicus must be kept and the individualization of case is necessary. However the near similimum when introduced to affected or would be affected persons they act as prophylactic.

The prophylactic provides a boost in natural immunity and strength so that the microbes may not affect the person.
A reliable list of prophylactics has been given below.

Plague - Ignatia, Naja
Polio - Lathyrus, Gelsemium
Diphtheria - Diphtherinum
Whooping cough - Pertussin
Cholera - Camphor
Small Pox - Malandrinum
Chicken Pox - Variolinum, Puls, Rhustox, Antim. tart
Influenza - Influenzinum
Malaria - Nat. Mur
Measles - Morb, Rhustox
Quinsy - Baryta carb
Scarlet fever - Bell, Scarlet. Mur
Encephalitis - Gels
Yellow Fever - Ars .alb
Shingles - Variolinum
Blood dysentery - Mer. Cor
Chickungunya - Eupatorium.

The homoeopathic prophylactic given in such a situation should be prescribed in higher potency. The posological doctrines of Homoeopathy are subject to susceptibility of person living in such area of affections.
