Organon of medicine is the book for homeopaths world over. the book is the most translated homeopathic book in the history of homeopathy. For a long time, there were complaints of errors in the translation of Organon. But no one had the courage to attempt the correction of those errors. Now, it was left to the father and son duo of Dr.Mahendra singh and Dr.Subhas singh to undertake this monumental work. This is the first book after Dudgeon’s translation in 1849, which has taken into account, identified and corrected the errors. A comparative study of S.Hahnemann’s all the six original German editions and English translations of Organon of medicine have been done. This has been done with the help of experts in German language.
Dr.S.P.S. Bakshi, & Dr. Ramjee singh — the president
and Vice-president of central council of homeopathy —have written
the foreword. Dr.S.M Singh and Dr.L.M Khan have written review of the
book. It is called as the redacted edition for the specific reason of
its improvement upon translations of Dudgeon, Wesselhoft, Boericke etc.,
A very useful feature of this work is that the word meanings of difficult
English and non-English words have been given in the relevant pages. This
is a very handy feature, considering the fact that it will be used mostly
by students and beginners. Also brief biographies of medical men, mentioned
by the master, has been given in the footnotes. A comparative chart of
Hahnemann’s introductions in all the edition of Organon. All in
all a highly commendable job, done very thoroughly. A valuable addition
to the classical homeopathic literature.
